Math for artists final

Cover image

My finals for Math for Artists is still very much a work in progress. I recently stumbled upon some of these layered papercuts by Matt Shlian. I thought it would be cool to make some kind of interface to generate these type of cuts. Basically it would repeat the shape through some kind of formula and you can control things like the position on the x and y-axis, the rotation of the shape and the width and height. Most of this stuff can be done in Illustrator right now, but it only provides linear spacing. An important feature would be to export all of these in seperate SVG files.

Here are some initial shape ideas. All done in Illustrator for now though.I like the one in the bottom left corner the most.

Tech

I still have to write everything for this. I've been thinking about using Method Draw for the SVG drawing and to build on top of that. It would provide more flexibility than just starting from scratch.

I will do the cutting with a Silhouette Cameo 4.
